Placement ScreenFrom the main menu, click the orange School to Career Participation button. This button will open the data entry screen where you will enter Internship/Coop Placements. This is the most important screen in the database, where you will spend the most time.

Use a paper version of this form to gather information about internship placements. You may use the Paper Data Entry Form provided within the database (available from the layout menu) or download the Microsoft Word document PlacementForm2.doc.

This screen is color-coded, showing that the screen brings together information from several files. (Activity=yellow, School=blue, Employer/Contact=red/pink.)

Students can have more than one record in this screen. For example, a student may have a summer internship and a school year internship, and will therefore have two records. If you are interested, you can use the layout button to go to the layout called Student History to see a screen that summarizes all the records for a single student.

Exploring the Database

Use the layout button in the top left corner of the screen to explore other layouts in the STW file. These layouts allow you to view the data many different ways, including lists, mailing labels, reports, etc. There are over 40 layouts in the STW file, mostly developed in response to specific requests for information.
